On the issue of the PS3,

Judging from the fact that the 360 doesn't support HD-DVD, it probably won't be PS3 killer. They're already talking about the problem with fitting HD quality cutscenes with a full HD quality game on a double layer DVD (8.5GB disc the 360 will be using).

I was actually playing the 360 at Best Buy today and heard at least 4 people say they'd wait for the PS3.

I'm getting it because of Halo 3, and I collect game consoles.

 

Sup n00bs....Most stores will get the 360 at around 10am to 1pm here, but they're not leagally allowed to release them until midnight. (This is where hook-ups come into play)

Oh, and of course the PS3 will outdo the 360 spec-wise, but it won't matter if Master Gates takes all of their developers. Plus, you'll have to be willing to dish out the $550 on opening day -- bringing the total development loss of the PS3 to $1.8 billion by the end of 2006 considering they make projected sales. Poor, poor, Sony.

I agree that the PS3 might out do the 360 spec wise, but I personally will never pay 500+ for a game system. And eventually folks will start to hack the 360 like the previous xbox and make the system just a dream to have with 250-300gb hard drive. Another thing to keep in mind, game system prices dont usually drop until another system gets released(all three companies on the market at the same time), just like the past; until nintendo revolution gets released, the prices wont drop too dramatically, especially the overdone ps3 it will remain 499-600$ for a while.

The PS3 will already be taking a loss per PS3 that they sell. The cost to manufacturer VS. the cost of retail sale to compete with Micro$oft. Watsdm4 is right.....Poor poor Sony.

I will not be buying a PS3 when companies like Square Enix will be releasing hit titles for both 360 and PS3.

Sony also wants the PS3 to be a Media center. What operating system will it use???........Windows? Yeah ok there is Linux but What os is in about every home with a Computer?

The XBox's online play is whats attracting me right now. Sony dropped the ball hard when Gran Tourismo 4 did not directly support ONLINE play. and we allknow how much time I spent getting LAN play to work PROPERLY.

I love gaming as much as the next sports watchin, car drivin' man, but SONY has fucked us over enough. and the XBox has just been mod friendly and online friendly...

Sony's future relies on online gaming. Without that, the PS3 could fall right on its face. And if the Xbox 360 doesn't sell like hotcakes at $399, expect Sony to scale down the system a bit and sell it at a lower cost, then try to make up the money with add-ons.

Another factor for both systems is Nintendo. They're taking a chance on the Revolution, a true "next gen" controller, online gaming, backwards compatible with the GC and online access to their entire gaming library. And you'll finally be able to watch movies, etc on it.

If Nintendo delivers on the gameplay and they're able to undercut the PS3 and 360 prices as was done with the Gamecube, Sony and Microsoft may have some problems on their hands.

 

True but..... Later the Gamecube fizzled out. Now there audience consist of Hardcore Zelda, Metriod and Mario fans, 12 yrs and under and the Japanese.

PS2- was the early bird and got the worm but shot themselves when GT4 was not online.

Xbox- even though it was way more powerful. it was a day late and a dollar short. But now has picked up momentum thanks to a constantly growing online community. ( Halo2, Battlefront)

Nintendo has admitted that they will not be keeping up with Micro$oft and Sony in the spec wars.

They also have admitted they will not be offering gaming for the "HD-era"

They have also admitted that this console will range between $149-$299.

Looks like the Revolution will follow the same footsteps as the Gamecube. I feel that Micro$oft and Sony have nothing to worry about.

They better know when to fold'em. End up like Sega......RIP.
