I'd like to have mine inspected but that really seems like a trap. I'd only like to have it inspected so I know what to expect to get a ticket for and what they will notice, I know alot of it is illegal...

If you are dumb enough to drive your car with all of its illegal modifications directly to the police station...

The volunteers will be answering any questions you may have about Virginia laws, not actively performing state vehicle inspections in the parking lot.

The H.E.A.T. (Help Eliminate Auto Theft) program usually has people there to chemical etch your VIN into your windows. Had mine done already on the car.

I hope it doesn't sound like I'm going to.....I'm saying I'd like it to be inspected by a 3rd party or somethign, just out of curiousity...I'm not about to drive it over there. At the moment, I can't th ink of whats really very illegal other than perhaps too low and the exhaust.

My Supra had that (VIN etching on windows) done, which I had never heard of until the insurance company asked if it was done or not. Never before had they asked, and never before had I noticed that it could be done. Strange.

Don't know of a single insurance company that will discount a policy based on VIN etching but figured why not? Any amount of deterrance, even if only mental, is a benefit.

they cant do a state inspection there....its not an "approved inspection station" unless they have a flat concrete pad large enough and flat enough to do a headlight inspection..

its not a "state safety inspection" but one to see if the crap you have on your car is legal or not. i dont know the specifics on their policies, but some localities have a setup within the dept to offer public information sessions, like this, that inform people that may not know legal issues to alert them of things that can get them a ticket.

as for the trap issue....if you drive a car that is illegal to start with to a police station like Kevin said.....you are a moron. but, if there is something you think is borderline, or would like a professional (sometimes) opinion, i think that is what it is for.

of course...tell that to the rest of the half corrupt cops up there.

Non-moving violations don't count. Keep on driving.
