What shop can stretch tires in the Roanoke area?
So you've got your Rover and the Lexus both here in Roanoke? I saw you driving the Range Rover on Peters Creek about a month or so ago. Once again, "sweet... a modded Range Rover" and then I glanced over and saw the UltraSpeed sticker on the window and put two and two together. I R SO SMART!
wait.
you are doing what? i would expect this question to be asked by a mexican in a civic, not a Lexus owner.
its called fender rolling. look into it.
I have yet to understand people and why the hell they spend 2 grand on wheels and tires, only to run the wrong size tires.

if you lived near newport news I would mount them for you. Its pretty easy once you done it a few times. A 245 on a 10.5 is cake and a 225 on a 9 slides in pretty easy. I have 215 45 on a 9 and they fit perfect. The whole stretch tire thing some people will never understand it. its just a style to try to make the rim/tire/fender well fit as close as possible without rubbing.

thanks man. i miss the beach. if i was there i wouldnt have a problem had a place to do them out there. might take you up on that next time. i dont think the tire on the car now will handle a drive out to NN. lol
the fenders are cut and rolled. learn about the style before you start throwing out racial slurs.

racial slurs? fuck no. You aint seen me throw racial slurs.
The fitment issue, I understand. VIP Style, I have never understood.
Next year, when the new updates come out to the SI manual, more people will be pissy for getting a Ghostbuster thrown on their windshield for it too.
ever taken a tire off that has been ran like that for a long period of time? to get somewhat even wear, you gotta run jacked up pressures to compensate for the shoulder loading, if they dont get eaten off cause the car was not aligned correctly to begin with.
I have dismounted a couple, and every one had a weakened sidewall and powder in the case due to rubber breaking down from the heat.
If you like them, fine. But from a safety standpoint, I dislike them.
Granted, yours are not much of stretch at all, compared to some that I have seen. but still, the whole exposed lip of the wheel thing is not only fuggly (in my opinion) but you run the risk of lip damage cause of it also.
Again, most everything I put up is my opinion, but there are under the watch of the popo for the SI manual last I heard.
even worse, IMO. just about as bad as Donks, but to each their own i reckon.

It's been done for years main reason is for fender clearance so the tire can set inside the fender. In Europe and some other places your tire cannont be past the fender so this takes care of that problem as well.
Just be sure to get someone you know will to a good job because they are not going to cover your wheel getting damaged.
Also check into the heavy truck tire places they have the big air pumps that shoot the air out to mount the heavy truck tires. These are used for strecthed tires as well.

i do drive my car on a daily basis. an whenever i do take it on a long distance trip i do an inspection to see if everything thing is good working in order so not to put me, my passanger and other motorist in danger.
but this isnt a thread justifing wether tire stretching is something to do or not to do. its a thread asking for shops that will do it.
im not trying to internet fight with you. just wondering why come into a thread and start bashing a style that you have clearly stated you dont understand? or is internet fighting something that is prevelent in the western section? jw
i understand your view point as far as the SI of stretching a tire. which is justifiable and valid and i understand them as well. that is why i havent gone extreme like most of the vdub guys and some of the vip guys as well.

Add in the fact that 98% of them do not know how to properly mount a tire like that, let alone not do damage to the wheel. There are about 11 shops in the Roanoke and Christiansburg area that have an Artiglio Master or equivalent machine that can do a high dollar wheel without damage, but very few have someone who has the knowledge and experience on the machine to do it right.
I have done wheels on a rim clamp machine that other places tried to do with a new machine and failed. seating the beads is the hardest part, and you will need either a Cheetah tank, or a non-OSHA approved method (ie ether and a lighter)
lol
