I'm moving to Crystal City in mid-sept and really want to find a close gym for muay thai/MMA style fighting. I have very little martial arts experience is the only problem (maybe 2 TOTAL years of Karate/Kung Fu).

true though, i ain't no spring chicken anymore. however, i wouldn't let yourself get caught sleepin around me either. i don't bother trying to go toe to toe on the street anymore, i'm too old for that crap, i keep it short and to the point now a days.

i use to train in springfield at american karate institute near landmark mall. i believe they closed last year after 15 yrs. there is still a boxing school in old town alexandria that i believe still teaches american rules kickboxing. the kickboxing instructors name is joseph cooper (former mid-atlantic light heavyweight camp), excellent instructor and one heck of a guy.

Dont know of any formal school....but I hear there are some street fighting that used to go on down at Springfield Mall.
