Is that admissible in court though? I thought there HAD to be proof in the form of radar or pacing...

It is true, the police are trained to be able to estimate the speed of a car without a radar/lidar gun and it is admissable in court. It basically works like this, you pass the cop and he starts counting one Mississippi, two Mississippi......from a fixed object (like a street sign or tree). They have to be stopped in order to do this. You can contest it, and with with a good lawyer probably get out of it.....or get it reduced, as its merely based on the officer's judgement and training.

In regards to them not showing you the reading of the radar/lidar gun.....as of this past July the general assembly of the communistwealth of VA passed a law that they don't have to show you the reading off of the gun.

I had a similar experience last year, about asking the cop to show me the reading from his radar. I got stopped for doing 65 in a 35, which I was nowhere near doing............maybe 50 at the most. He said he got me on radar, I asked to see it and he said no. Its not like it was a big deal, he stopped me on a residential street. We happened to be standing outside his cruiser, and his radar wasn't even turned on. He charged me with RD on radar, although I got out pretty good though by getting it dropped to improper driving w/$100 fine.....3 points instead of 6.

Goodluck with that one, I doubt you'll see jail time, but be prepared to get raped with fines and probabaly a license suspension.

I usually try to limit my speeding to school zones and the mall parking lot on Saturday afternoons.
