I think he meant textile. That's what i meant to say as well. My textile jacket was the one that got burned through JR Ballistic 2.0, that jacket lasted me quite some time.

As far as everyday wearing of the boots, that's why i went with the white Icon Motorhead boots. Besides the fact that they dont lace up and use buckles, it really does look like a casual boot from the side (if you are wearing jeans of course, which I should hope you are).

I'd say pants are good if you plan on doing some SERIOUS riding, but they arent needed unless you want that extra bit of a safety net.

I would recommend getting something for every occasion.................here's what I have:

First Gear winter suit...........fully padded in all the right area's including the paints; also has removable liners.

First Gear rain suit; lightweight and thin........perfect to wear over any other riding gear anytime of the year.

Honda Racing leather jacket; semi-perfed with a removabel liner for the winter, I usually just wear it with some jeans, gel gloves and steel toed over the ankle boots.

Joe Rocket textile w/pants.........I normally don't wear the pants. I bought them before I bought a riding suit. I just wear the coat with jeans and said gloves and boots above........normally just deep into the summer when it's a million degree's out.

Honda Racing riding suit.....semi-perfed with removable liner. Perfect for the track or for when I feel like dragging everything around every corner out in Pungo in the dead of summer.

I also have Joe Rocket boots (I usually only wear them with the riding suit) and countless pairs of gloves. I also have a few different types of face and neck protectors for the wind in the winter. And I also have a back protector that I may or may not wear out in Pungo. Oh, and gloves.............I have no idea how many pairs I have; but they each serve a purpose for a different situation.

i feel naked now if for some reason i find the need to ride w/o gloves and a jacket. so basically, i dont.
gauntlets all the time.

Icon TiMax textile jacket with the shoulder/back plates and reinforced elbow/spine when its hot out. regular jeans.. but the Icon reinforced jeans would be a better idea still looking 'normal'

Full leather two piece suit when i really plan on hitting the curves, or going down the strip. always ankle covering boots like the gloves.

Helmet is a no brainer.
HA!

yup having a variety of gear is important i've learned that and thus built up a good collection myself... i used to hate riding in the rain, til i got a first gear rain suit, waterproof boots, gloves, and a breath deflector, now i actually love riding in the rain... used to never ride in the cold, until i got insulated gloves, first gear thermal suit, and a really good balaclava, now i'll ride in january... used to hate riding in 100 degree weather, until i got a perforated jacket and a helmet thats vents actually move air... having the right gear for the weather can completely change how you look at riding, before i just figured i didn't like riding in rain, or too hot or cold of weather and usually didn't

you can be the safest rider but you never know what other schmucks are out there. i posted this on one of my other forums-

went out for a ride on two today, and almost ended up inside a SUV.

having have just made a left turn, i was accelerating to @45 when i caught the SUV about to pull out of a shopping center to go across my lane and make a left oncoming. When i saw his head it was turning from left to right to check traffic.. either he 'didnt see me' or is just that inept.. ill go with the later.. because after coming to a complete stop checking his right, he proceded to pull out AS he turned his attention back to the left.

At this point i was about 3 bike lenghts away off the gas in case this tool did exactly what he did. So sure enough.. hes now perpendicular in my lane baffled at what to do.

He SHOULD have seen me in the first place and not pulled out, he COULD have accelerated and made it across but nooooooo.. what does grandpa do?

of course

STOP
like a M:gr_cursin:THER F :gr_cursin:CKIN IDI Gr_cursinT

having me grab brakes hard as shet to prevent seeing what his kids left on the floor of his back passenger seats. As im shaking my head and cursing the fukk out of him in my helmet HE's CHUCKLING!!!

WTF!! i look over at the lady who was behind him about to pull out with a ' DIDYOUFUKINSEETHISTOOLBAG?! ' gaze in my eyes, and she is just as disgusted.

fortunate enough for me i guess i had the sense to see that coming and prepare if it happened.. lucky for him it took me longer to think about getting off the bike and at least attempting to punch his glass in with my carbon covered knuckles.

AUUUUGH! it still infuriates me even right now to think there are people just that cluless out on the roads.

! Confused ! at least ill have a good mental pump for the gym now

CLIFF NOTES if you are or even if you think your the best driver in the world and cant go wrong.. there are plenty other idiots/drunks out there that will wreck your world in a second if your not always on the lookout.

-end rant-
