Where you do the stripping? This is the reason you dont paint cars or DIY when you are uninformed. They wouldnt STRIP your car to paint it if you took it to anybody... so chances are you will make more work for them and charge you more. Paint is in the prep and no "good" painter will want somebody who doesnt know what they are doing prepping what they have to spray.

You want cheap listen to Leo and go to Macco... If you really dont give a fuck. But then even there i dont think they do a $300 job. If $300 is all you want to spend your better off not painting the car or rattle canning it simply because you aint gonna get shit for that.

Like i said the Lowe's approach is by far the best idea... you laugh at it. But all the painters i know here on this board are laughing at your $300 price range also.

for 300 maaco is your best bet. i had my old car doen there, the one out in p town did a pretty good job, and call all of them up, ask if they are running specials. one store might have a special on a base and clear coat job, another may not.

I got my car painted for:
$300 to paint for Supremene ($500) paint job with integrated clearcoat
$50 to change color
$200 to strip the paint. The paint on my car was stripping off badly
total: $550 with 4 year warranty

Sorry, I am still uploading the pics. they will be up shortly.

Haha. Its the Maaco in Portsmouth. They do EXCELLENT paint jobs for the price. I am not sure if they offer everyone the Supreme paint job for that price, but sometimes they have specials where you get the $500 paint job for $300. It was a hard task selecting a color. I wanted the color like on the 350Z, however it was unavailable. They say they do not have some of the newer colors, so they had me look in 2003 and backward years.

I was actually mad at them because I told them I wanted to change the color I initially choose, they confirmed that I would be able to change it, and they would even call before they paint it to make sure i select the color. They told me they were not painting it until Friday or Saturday, next thing I know they called me Wednesday morning telling me to come and pick it up. I think the color turned out really well for me wanting to change it though. What do you guys think?

Ill say it again... you get what you pay for. You paid $5 and change and you are happy thats all that matters my man. There are others like myself who are picky as fuck and really care about the type of materials used on the car that they have to drive everyday and the final final product. In terms of the post paint work thats done. I can prolly guess they didnt do any post spray work to the car at most would be a light buff but i doubt even that.
The reason you prolly werent able to get those colors you wanted is that the 350z color you want is only available in certain grades of paint. Meaning "quality" stuff... i pull alot of my colors i use for paint jobs from BWM's and Mercedes simply because the colors are alot more pearlesent to my eye and these colors are only available in higher grade stuff.

If you think about it... how would you fix imperfections on a new vehicle if the paints not availabe? Its just not available at Macco at the price you paid is all. In the end like i started this... as long as your happy with it then nothing to complain about. I just thought id chime inand let you know why you couldnt have the color you initially wanted. For future reference when picking colors its always best to see the color on a car first full size... this is why i walk the high end vehicle lots before picking a color. You cant tell much from a paint chip especially with a color like the one you choose. Honestly it wouldnt have been my first choice but to each his own of course. But if your going to pay the money then get what you truely want in the end... with alot of colors you can have "extras" added at time of mixing if you have somebody willing to understand what your looking for in a finished product... you may like a color but want it tinted a bit different, a little more flake or metallic... you know etc...

Congrats on the paint job sir.
