Well if you were to openly do that right next to a police officer, you'd be an idiot. Shit, I'd write you a ticket.

 

Cops have better things to do most of the time, anyways.

My concealed handgun permit gets me off the hook most of the time. Cops see that I'm a normal law-abiding citizen (most of the time =] ) and let me off.

Not that I get pulled over often.

 

He'll write you a ticket for downshifting and because the way the cars designed write you a ticket? :P If the cars 100% stock, and the drivers not doing anything wrong besides slowing down, I'd get a good laugh out of the cop who pulls someone over for that.

In some states I think a turbo can be considered a "muffling device".. That must be the key to the OEM mufflerless SRT4s..

 

You missed the point that I made. The police officer was sitting stationary on the side of the road....

Its a seconday ticket anyway. Reckless driving was the initial stop.

If you want to be a dumbass and drive right by the officer with no muffler or downshift and let the engine rev right in front of him you're really just being stupid.

Just depress the damn clutch and brake like a normal individual.

I downshift to brake all the time, but if I had a car that was loud, I sure as hell wouldn't do it while driving within a few feet of a police officer.

But to each his own.

 

Shrug, some of us downshift to slow down. Again, my car comes OEM without a muffler, so I won't pay a fine for not having one. Sure, if you downshift so the car rev's to like 5k rpm's, than ya, you probably would get a ticket, but that's not exactly normal driving.

 

I downshifted before I started to brake, thats probably what he heard. But I did not fly by him revving my engine making my exhaust loud, I don't drive like an idiot.
