This whole discussion is even more ridiculous than the Mustang vs Camaro debate.

You will NOT find an unbiased opinion on an internet forum like this.

I personally would choose an STi over an Evo. I'll gladly give up a few hp for the comfort of knowing the car will start up and drive every day. Why Mitsu decided to build such a great motor, and then back it with a weak transmission is beyond me. In my opinion, the base Evo 9 with the 5 speed is the best Evo they've ever built. It's no STi transmission, but it's not made from balsa like their other trannies.

I have consistently ran better lap times than c6 z06 and srt10 vipers at VIR with less than $2500 total in mods, Nuff said.
lolol and what kind of lap times are those?

But that's just personal preference because I think they look/sound better. I'm not a fan of the boxer sound.

The 2nd gear lock out is a clutch/pressureplate issue.. Not trans bro and any high horsepower evo should have a twin or triple disc to hold the power and revert that. There are over 10 9 sec daily driven evos on evolutionm.net that all have stocks transmissions and transfer cases. It's the drivers who blow them up from miss-use, abuse, and lack of maintenance and knowledge not the trans. These are not the same pos found in the old dsm, these very strong units when they are not miss- used ( I.e. Dropping the clutch @6k launching on slicks)

We all have about the same driving skills and track days under our belt, we r defiantly no Mario andretti Lol. I also have the dissadvange with a 5 seater sedan 4cyl

I'm just going off what I read, ps the 2010 time attack world championship held in Sydney Australia evos took 1st and 2nd, and then an sti took 3rd. That was the only sti in the top 10... 4 evos placed though.
