Dope Status!!
I'm wondering if it was a PR stunt. Maybe the owner owns a body shop/repair shop specializing in exotics. Remember the Bugatti Veyron owner that "accidentally" drove his car into a lake, and it just happened to be recorded on video? That guy owned a body shop/restoration shop specializing in exotics and other rare vehicles such as classics and antiques.
So yes, it's completely real and the car was actually destroyed. It was a PR stunt, but not the kind you normally think of.
The owner bought the car (in China) and it wouldn't start, and the dealership discovered it was damaged in transit (from the factory to the dealership) and wouldn't do anything to make the situation right. So the owner contacted Lamborghini, and apparently they didn't do anything to make the situation better. So the owner got really pissed off about paying $750,000 for his new car (the markup and taxes in China are crazy) and being treated like he didn't matter at all, so he had the locals help him draw some attention to how Lambo customers are treated in China.
