Cycle whore thread
tires are probably starting to "cup". run your hand over the tread, it's probably kind of wavy rather than completely round. That makes the front end shudder a bit when leaned onto that part of the tread. if it was a balance issue, it would do it all the time, not just when leaned over.
Some pics of my track day. Enjoy. First time tracking a bike. Full course was a monster track and only got 3 sessions in on the patriot track before we got rained out.

im the one with the knee down in the apex.

we got rained out today.

me and another vfr racing hard.

Very interested in track riding, but no experience what so ever. I'm tired of hitting exit ramps, winding roads and short interstate runs...
I joined Nesba.com - rider perks come with the membership, not to mention some of the coolest guys you could meet. Everyone would help you out in any way possible. Its 75 bucks to become a member per year. But if you do more than 3 track days a year, you break even because you get a discount on track days through nesba. Also if you crash and cant ride the rest of the day you have insurance and get refunded the amount of sessions you missed out on. Same thing applies to rain as well.
This was my first track experience as well, and track riding can not be compared to mountain roads, exit ramps, country roads, ect. I was fortunate to be with some people that have riding with nesba for years, so they explained everything up front. But basically:
you get there
tech inspection 7AM-8AM
rider meeting @ 8AM
Beginner group rides at 9:40 10:40 11:40 1:40 2:40 3:40 4:40
Rules are pretty simple for beginners, there are control riders out there that will assist you in any way possibe (form, lines, ect) No passing in the turns. Nesba is a well organized, controlled enviroment.
Tech inspection was a breeze to pass - brakes, tires, chain, no lights =pass.
Gear - need 1 or 2pc leathers, leather gloves, leather boots, helmet, I suggest getting a psycle suit or a cool suit for under the leathers.
I have another track day coming up on 9/11/2010 for Summit main. If you get your stuff together we could ride together up there. My trailer holds 2 bikes. its only a one day event.
