Finally 2011 Mustang will bring back 5.0
It has a lot to do with the zeta chassis that GM used as a base for the new car. I remember reading a while back about how overengineered the chassis was for the task when they were still developing the car. Just like fabrik8 said it all comes down to cost. They're suppose to be working on a new zeta that's lighter, I'm guessing to cope with the rediculous CAFE requirements that will be taking effect soon.
I fucking love this car, but then again I'm a bit of a mustang fanboy. The more I read about cars and live with mine the more I realize it's not about having the best numbers on paper, but rather what pleases you the most. If we all based our automotive purchases on internet pissing contests then shit would be boring imo.
That's a lot of performance out of the Mustang, and the M cars are getting crazy expensive. I think I read the new M5 is gonna approach 6 figures.

Yea, that .1 second is a deal breaker, much more so than the $28,000 difference. I agree with your main point though, the cars target different audiences. A guy looking at a new M3 probably won't buy the Mustang and vice versa. It's nice to see $60,000 performance trickling down to cars half the price regardless.
