And I want real facts, not just "it's old".
It's heavy as hell and has no place in modern road cars given the state of modern metals and engineering.

I certainly hope that is not your only arguement.

What is the total weight difference? On a 4 cyl there's hardly any difference in block weight, unless it's the shitty open deck honda garbage where half the block material that needs to be there to hold power isn't there. And even those motors are hardly lighter. I can't imagine a v8 would be much more in the weight difference department as the block is still similar in size. Aluminum is lighter, but you need more of it since it's so damn weak and twistable.

I'd say because it's an inch longer, an inch wider, and a few inches taller, just like you said.

They made it larger, added more features, bigger tires, bigger wheels, and now it's really a pig. You're agreeing with me, what's your point?

It's just proportional to vehicle size. Putting 16s on something like a Challenger would be silly, it would look like a shopping cart.

It's a lot heavier than it could be (as are the powdered metal rods). Then again, someone should have corrected me, as the Camaro has an aluminum block with iron liners.

The stock 20s on the SS weight 30lbs each in the front and 32lbs each in the rear. The 16x8s on my car, from a time when cars were built on a different scale, are 16lbs each. So there's 58lbs right there, all unsprung. Designers have gone stupid.
