yeah thats understandable. well from that I would just go and talk to the department to see if they can give you a tour and see what they have to offer.

You applied to other places right. And depending how well you did in college earning the BSME you should have gotten a quick reply (minimum GPA was a 3.0). But thats also a good thing to learn since I am about to apply to Northrup as an intern. I know all the CEO's and higher up peoples children get jobs first but thats usually with every company.

I got an offer in about 6 weeks after graduating. I was looking for about 3 months prior.

At northrop grumman METs are a hiring manager decision. I can not comment on other departments or even other groups in my department, but in my group METs don't get interviewed.

Northrop grumman sets the median in this area for engineers.

I applied to NG last Jan, and got a call back last May. They enjoy taking their time and calling u when you least expect it. I was told that the HR people that used to take care of co-ops and interns have changed around last spring/summer, so things could be different.

Right. Still the same old people as far as I know. HR blows at NG. For those applying or what not, patience is key and that asking for much in itself.

Yeah, the process is a alot harder for ME's. What sucks is the kids that do get in and got that good old 3.8 or 4.0 GPA stll suck at there job. I dont have the super high GPA but I do have the design smarts and I can easily bust out some calculations if there is any need. Going through the engineering program through VCU you really find out that almost all the shit you learn is bullshit. We learned about bearings in MSD and I was like do we really have to calculate all this stuff. Teacher was like fuck no, all you have to do is find the basics and look in a damn manufacturer's catalog haha.

I'm at ODU studing for a BSME. All above mentioned is true. If you have a hard time understanding foreign accents, good luck - most of my professors are pakistani, indian, egyptian, chinese..

As for the job market, i know someone who picked up a job at Northrop with a 2.5-2.7gpa. He said mostly everyone who came out of odu who wanted to work there, got a job. But then again, he was a civil engineer grad.

If you ever get professor Ibrahim, he is the biggest asshole i've ever met.

Yeah my brother just said get like a 3.3 to 3.5 GPA and it just helps to get the foot in the door. I dont mind competition but when you can easily get a job then it makes life easier haha.
