a few people have been complaining about driven sprockets lately. i suspect they did some changes to their manufacturing process.

most vortex sprockets are aluminum, that's why they wear faster. for a street bike, there's no need for aluminum, you'd never notice the weight difference on the street.
The afam and driven sprockets are alloy too. Its the hardening process that makes the difference as well as the grade of alloy.
And I disagree on street use, you can notice the difference on the street if combined with a lighter, smaller 520 chain, coming from a 525 or 530 pitch.
