ok guys i got a problem. so i said i would help this guy out and put a motor in his accord. thinking he was going to get another sohc motor he shows up with a f20b(not a very comon swap so no real info) i have the motor in the car with an auto trans. my problem is the engine harness is a rhd so i cant use it. and the harness that was in the car was an obd1 motor( failed attempt to swap with a 95 engine) i have the poj-l61 ecu in the car, the f20b ecu is going to be here today. i was told to go buy a 96-99 ex accord wiring harness and just use that. my question is what is all needed for the wiring? what is different that needs to be wiried. any help world be appreciated.

 

Josh, just research H22 swap for that chassis. Those engines are similar so it may lead you in the right direction

 

Is the coil intenal or external? I know that on the 94-97 accords they all have external coils. If the F20B has an internal coil then you will have to wire the 97 accord coil wires to the F20b Distributor plug to make the coil have power.

This is one thing that you can try to keep from having to do that. you should be able to swap the distributor guts from the stock accord and put them into the f20b housing. If this is the case then you will have to use the stock accord distributor cap so you can use the external coil. Other than that I would assume that you will have to wire in the vtec, vtec oil pressure, and the knock sensor. You will need to make the Alt wires longer as well.

The other issue is might be the power steering if the car currently has it.


To make sure this is the DOHC Vtec right?

 

seriously vtec needs to be wired i think the knock sensor as well just use he harness off of the single cam that came out of the car use the dizzy as well as the injectors you CAN use the accord stock ecu to run the engine but not well a p28 will work as well again just not that well or you could use a p13 and it should run fairly decent

 

All that has to be done to change from an external to an internal coil setup is, splicing the blue/yellow and black wires together. This will send the power to the internal coil. That is what I did on my H22 in a 90-93 chassis using the harness that came in the car.

 

If he wants to save from splicing the harness then yes. I have seen people f-up cars because they do not know the right way to do wiring.

I did not remember the wiring color since I did my h22 swap back in 2000.


OP your best be is to stay OBD1 and get a p28 or any OBD1 ecu and get it chipped and put crome on it.

 

thanks you guys for some help. the things i would have to swap on the sohc harness first off would be the distributor wiring then i would have to wire the crank sensor then a bunch of other stuff. the car is obd2 so i wanted to stay with that. plus i would have to change the injector clips to obd2 and then that leaves me with a injector resistor box that i cant use and dont knwo what to do with those wires. i'm just trying to keep everything obd2 and make things as simple as possible. so i got the 97 ex harness coming just because the one i got from the car was all hacked up. i am going to see what ecu they send me and see if it plugs up if it does i will figure it out. and if all else fails then i am makeing a whole harness from scratch.
