Looking for employment: IT Position
Security isn't a biggie at this point, but everytime i go online and take practice tests for it i score like 80%, and i haven't even cracked my book open yet.
Network+ is another good additional one to have, but I'm not sure what situations of work I'll use it in. If i'm going to be a help desk/entry level guy, i'm thining ill have to deal more with Joe and Jane forgetting their passwords or screwing up their mouse, not so much building a network or configuring one.
LoL! F Security? Your a funny guy
It's much easier to get a security job and get PAID then play desktop support bish for years working your way up to 6 figure roles.Entry Level Security is 60k+ Add Clearance there's 80k+ Add 3-5 Years Experience Bam 6 figures.
i understand that the job would entail database security, network/internet security from virus, hackers, etc...but can you give me the details that an employee would use in a real world situation?
Network Security basically entails either looking for the hacker, malicious intruder, malconfigured machine, infected machine, malware dropped machine, etc. Monitoring for irregular activity, etc.
Basically staying ahead of the threat and monitoring for it. Or proactively scanning for vulnerabilities that sorta thing.
Your basic security + test passer can make upwards of 80k with a clearance
FYI I submitted you for a few jobs that sponsor clearances already with your current skill set. You'll be getting a call next week.

thank you for the submission. i meant to include a skill list of things i'm already competent in with that link i sent you, but i dont think its a biggie. if u think it will help i can send it ur way tho.
Not a big deal, as a standard on any internal submission they at least call the perspective candidate and do a phone screen.
Security + is and A+ cover two very different aspects of skill bases. If you can pass Security + you most like have the A+ knowledge as well. But that is not always the case. I would testking both and see what the ?'s look like on the A+. I had a CCNA when I was doing networking so A+ wasn't needed.

Brian - who do you work for? I may have even seen your car in the past since I used to work out in Dulles, down 606.
^^^ Listen to this guy. There's a reason he's talking on the same wavelength as me and I can attest that Security+ is not a waste of time. Few certs are a waste of your time for that matter.
