Well you are already assuming that someone that yanked out a perfectly good Datsun drivetrain for something as stupid as a 5.0 has his head on straight enough to pick the proper intake for the job.

And for the record a '93 Cobra intake flows less than a GT40 and less then the others you mentioned. So yes, you have a point...but saying a 302 is a flow restricted motor was just confusing to me.

There are numerous reasons for the small block swap, not least of all the fact that both the Chevy and Ford small blocks weigh less than that iron blocked boat anchor that came with these cars. And if you use the JTR method the engine sits lower and much further back than the stock inline 6.
Aside from JDM fanboi factor I can't think of any reason to keep the stock L Series inline 6.
