doing a starter on a bmw 24v motor is definitely a pain in the ass.. you must have major motivation issues if it took you 6 months though. lol

You bought a 100+ dollar injector for a 3 dollar cap?

yes.

again, i couldn't find it anywhere. i found some guys on bimmerforums willing to sell me a set of injectors for around 70 bucks shipped, but two in a row flaked on me so i just gave up.

yet another reason i hate bmw right now.

anyway, the car is running now, albeit running like shit. for now i'm contributing it to bad gas and/or sitting for 6 months, because it idles normal, and stalls only on occasion. i also had to replace a coolant hose that i busted trying to get to the starter (it's been a while since i've done any auto work more extensive than changing oil, ok?) and i tried to get the thermostat to open so i could put coolant in it, and it wouldn't. temp gauge got nearly all the way to the red, so i just shut it off.

i get to take it on an extended test drive today, and hope nothing else breaks.

edit- btw, the pintle caps do appear to be plastic welded to the injector. i wanted to reuse my old injector, but didn't want to risk breaking the cap trying to take it off the one i just bought. wasn't happening.

You have to also drop the entire driveline on a vette (differential, torque tube, rear suspension, etc) just to change the clutch on a vette. . .
lexus did the same thing on the earlier 1UZ V8 motors. had to do one on a 93 LS400, got it done, and then found out it had a blown headgasket. customer was not happy.
