What is 120hz and 240hz?

 

Your processor in the TV. Its how fast your TV can refresh the picture. The higher the number the better it is for motion. Good for sports, video games, action movies and such. 240 is the highest they have for a LCD panel tv as of now.

 

Since when did tv's start processing the picture? If you ask me, that sounds dumb.

Its just a refresh rate on the TV. I dont know how its dumb, its how you are getting the "Progressive" picture instead of the "interlacing."

 

So if I turn my 1080i on 120hz, then it makes it progressive? So 1080p?

 

I guess I explained it wrong. No it wont make it 1080p if your tv isnt capable of it. But it does make the TV better for motion, by overlapping the whole picture faster. And if you have a tv that is only capable of 1080i you are not going to have 120hz, you will have 60hz so there is no way to turn the function on or off.

 

What about my cox box? It says its doing 1080i...?

 

Cox doesnt display in 1080 they only have 720p just like most service providers. I believe fios is the only one doing 1080i right now. And unless you are using a HDMI cable you arent getting the full HD picture anyways. (i have cox)

 

I'm unaware of any digital provider running 1080p. Blue Ray and PS3 are really the only thing that's gonna give you 1080p. -Well a upscan dvd player as well... but the Blue Ray players are cheap enough now.
