I recommend an electric cut out and a S2000 muffler. Thats what i use and dont have any problems.

 

I run a straight 3" turbo-back with a magnaflow and a catco metal core... pretty quiet, really the muffler size is the key.

 

Flat black ES Oval.

 

MRD usually has them in stock...along with other mufflers.

 

i have done much research on this. the quietest straight-through 3" muffler are the oval vibrants. i recommend the flat black ones, cops wont hassle you as much.

Your 5x8x18 magnaflow muffler was quieter than my 5x8x14 muffler. Likewise, both are quieter than my current 4x9x14 magnaflow muffler.

I have a thermal exhaust on my tsi and its not loud at all
