Arrow WILL PAY YOU TO INSTALL HORN FOR NARDI WHEEL.

my inspection is due this month and my horn isnt wired up. my setup is a NRG slim quick release, MOMO hub, and Nardi steering wheel on a 2001 teg ls. if anyone knows how to wire up my horn i will pay them some money. Oh yeah and the whole setup is already installed, the horn just needs to be wired up to honk.

people with experience only. thanks

also if anyone wants this brand new and mint setup (hub, QR, and torino2 black w/red stitch) i'll trade for a jdm itr SRS wheel.

i'm in fairfax and can meet at your pad

don't you have to change it back to stock since it doesn't have airbag?

Well for those that are like you, you guys are in luck, and now i give you my write up.

Wiring Up a Horn With a Momo/ Aftermarket Steering wheel

Step 1: I will start off at already having the steering wheel off, as theres not much to it. If you do not know how to take off the stock steering wheel, please refer to this thread http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=273474
You should be looking at something similar to this:

Step 2: What you will need to do following taking off the steering wheel, is connect a wire to a piece of metal like a pen clip or the brass piece which 88-91 Civics( Part # PART #35259-SH3-A02 For those interested) used, to get contact and power to the horn. Mine Looked similar to this:

You have to find a way to secure it so it makes constant contact to the backing of the hub, as thats where the plug inside your hub gets its power from.

Step 3: Find the Horn relay, Which looks like a black box and is located in your under dash fuse box area. It should look like this:

Step 4: Disconnect the plug, and Connect the other end of wire that is connected to your pen clip or brass fitting, or whatever piece of metal you used to make contact to the back of the hub, to the power connection in the plug which looks like this:

I stripped it out, and shoved it in the female connection of the plug, you should be shoving it in the blue/red connection of the plug above. That is what gives power for the Horn.

Step 5: Install the horn, and plug the one female connection that is connected to the hub to the horn button, and then use a female to female wire(which should be included with hub kit when bought, if not go out and buy one or make one), to connect the inner ring of the hub to the other male connection on the horn button. Test it out as the horn should be wired up, if not re check your connections and see if everything is OK.

Step 6: Re-install your steering wheel, by tightening down the 19mm nut and make sure it lines up good with how the tires are facing, if not take it off and line it up correctly. Also install all plastic garnish pieces and you should be set!

After all this is completed, you should be done!

If there is any questions or confusion feel free to ask. But i hope i made this as thorough as possible as i havent found any real write ups on how to wire up a horn on EG hatches stripped of the SRS system.

I would like to thank member B18CivicEH2 for helping me out a whole lot! Thanks bro and Weaksauce.org for the few pics i borrowed off you guys

Also about passing inspection, as long as your SRS light doesnt come up and the horn works i dont think theres really a place that will fail you, unless they really are strict like say a REAL dealership. Most of the time if your setup is clena, like mine was i would pass most if not all places.

You can have a button on the dash for your horn (like mine). Has to be "firmly mounted" and within reach of the driver.

Didn't you post up last year too? Bring it to AA Motorsports. We can take care of it. 703.339.5566

if the inspection place doesnt care about an airbag, what makes a horn less significant

technically a button on the dash for a horn should pass....look up the va code.

that being said, it would cost $2 in parts to make that happen with some duct tape.
