Mom cars

So my mom has been driving a POS Neon for years and is finally ready to move on. I've been elected with the task to do the research and find her a car. She wants something that is great on gas, first and foremost. She wants something small and doesn't really care about options. Her price range is $5-7K, but for a good car she might be willing to shell out more. I've tried to talk her into a brand new car, but she isn't planning on getting one until their new business brings in a stable income. She wanted a VW Bug until I researched them and found out how problematic they are. I've looked into Scion xA's, and they seem perfect but hard to come across. Does anyone have any ideas on what else I can look into?

Yeah, I tried those and Camrys. She wants something small that has excellent gas mileage.

So there is nothing wrong w/ the Neon other then it's a POS and you have 5 - 7 grand to replace it? Why buy someone else's problems? Fix up the Neon and drive on...

Those can't be had for under $10k, let alone $7k.

If you think the xA is perfect, check out xB's, Yarises and Echos.

They're the same cars.
