cummins help

im lookin into this 96 12v auto cummins 2500. it was a company truck and the guy doesnt know too much about it but he said it has a cold start???? and when he started it he let it heat up like usual and then went to kick it over and it took like 10-15 seconds to fire. is this normal?

no, cummins motors should start just with a bump of the key, ive owned both 12 and 24 valve and only in 20 deg weather when i dont plug it in do i have to let it heat.

i had a similar problem to this on my 12v and it turned out to be the fuel heater which sits right by the filter.

Prob just the glow plugs. They are cheap so I would start by changing those first

thanks everyone and i think cummins dont have glow plugs, they got grid heaters

X2, no glow plugs to be found on a cummins.
