HELP! Got pulled over and got a ticket for my Fake.
I think the violation in itself is pretty serious, but I'm sure it's relatively common and somewhat harmless. If you don't have a long list of prior criminal history, I'm sure you'll ultimately be fine.
Yeah I have to agree. Rob's record is clean, and the fact that he was just carrying it (still possession but...) and not attempting to use it somewhere may help his situation. It's not like he was flashing it at a clerk trying to get a case of beer and had the cops called on him. Or if he had tried to use that to give to the cop instead of his real ID.

To the guys who laugh, fuck you.
I hope you guys are right in the fact that my history of nothing will help me. It sucks, I'm realy nervous about this. I'm hoping the town of Blacksburg is used to it since it's a college town and they go easy, but I do not know.

Radford is the same way, they deal with this type of crap all the time!
What'd your parents say man?
I don't think it's funny. Like I said, just kind of surprised that they wrote you for that. I'm sure they come across them all the time! It's a freaking college town!
My parents think it's a big deal for the fact that it's probably a misdemeanor. I really hope the town goes easy cause I'm thinkin the same thing that it will either go real well, or real bad and real quick. It is not Montgomery County, I don't think. I believe Blacksburg is it's own entity due to VA Tech.

Matter of fact, we were only maybe 2 miles away from the "duck pond." Maybe we were just outside of that jurisdiction. I don't know, but make sure to check that ticket and let me know.
As for it being a big deal, yeah, unfortunately it is. It's one of those things that could be serious but most likely won't, just based on all of the circumstances. In this day and age, I would imagine they are taking false identities pretty seriously just because of the risk of terrorism and everything that goes along with it. In your case, you're a college kid with a clean record, living in a university town, and you weren't "doing anything wrong" when you got pulled. You'll probably pull some community service, maybe pay a fine, but I think they'll give you a break.
Forgive me for asking this, but what race are you? I hate to say this, but in reality that could totally make or break your case in a biased small town courtroom. Most of the judges and LEO's are "good ol' boys," or at least the ones that I've come across. That could be in your favor, or totally against if they get the idea through their head that you were going to fly a plane into the campus. Know what I'm saying here?

Persons who possess, use or distribute fake IDs are charged with a Class 1 misdemeanor. If the document is used to purchase a firearm, the charges increase to a Class 6 felony.

Looks like it's at best a class 1 misdemeanor. It appears that using it to buy alcohol, a gun, etc., will land you WAY worse punishment than just possessing it. So it looks like you're in luck this time, if you had to be caught with it one way or another, at least it was in this manner.

Get a "Good ol'boy" lawyer that's been around for a while and he'll be able to get you out of it (completely if he's friends with the Judge). Most all the small towns work that way. It might cost you like $400, but it's worth it to keep a clean record. Good luck. Too bad it didn't say "McLovin" on it.
