Default nissan 240sx (KA problems)

My KA is being a bitch, in every gear when i hit 5 grand it won't go any further and starts choking and spiting at me, its almost like i have a rev limiter at 5 grand, i tried changing the plugs and that didn't do anything apart from that that car runs and idle's fine but if anybody has any idea about what that might be please let me know, thanks

when was the last time you changed your fuel filter? If a maf goes bad, it wont rev past 2k. I'd rule out the maf and look for fuel related issues.

Might as well get a new maf on there, but I think there is a cleaning procedure you can do with some carb/brake cleaner that could possible save it. You would be surprised how many sensors can trigger a "rev limiter".

Confirm base timing, make sure all plugs, wires, cap , rotor, and disty/coil are up to snuff, get the new maf, reset ecu, make sure there are no codes and you should be set!
