i've read on other forums how to do it...
just wondering if anyone's done it before, im tired of my bike sounding like a toy... and i would buy exhaust to put on it but i dont have the money at the time and i figure why not. like drill out the rivets and maybe even shorten the can so its not so ugly and long. oh and repack or whatever, im not too sure about that.

so if anyone's done it before and wants to help me out let me know cause my bike sounds 'boring' and i guess im a ricer for wanting the sound haha

Just drill out the rivets and remove the end cap and start cutting. I removed about 6" from mine. I lost a bunch of the diffuser though, so mine is obnoxiously loud!

 

Its gay and pointless it will look worse. Just rock stock until u can afford something that looks and performs better. Check out ebay pipes really are not that much! Whatever u do don't buy a D&D, if you do go ahead and throw your whole bike away. Plus sound gets old, sometimes on long rides i were earplugs bc of the noise.

 

Ok, I don't know about the gay and pointless part...but sometimes the sound does suck. I have a stock can on the bike now, but that is mostly until I pass inspection, then I am going to make my own exhaust anyway...so I guess I have two cans that are pointless...and one that's gay...

 

my exhaust is all mangled up anyway so i might as well do what i want with it... should i take the center baffle out so i can see through it and leave most of the packing?

 

as much as i hate modded stock cans, if you want to do it, pull one end off, take the guts out, get a piece of pipe and drill an assload of holes in it (or, you can get some very heavy mesh and make a tube) put the tube in the muffler and pack a crapload of heavy guage steel wool around it, and put the cap back on. make sure the tube in the center goes inside the inlet and outlet a bit so that it won't move around inside the muffler.

thats pretty much how all aftermarket cans are built anyway.

again, it's not the same as a good aftermarket muffler, but if all you want is a lil more sound, it'll work. pack as much steel wool (or go get some real muffler packing) as you can, and it won't be TOO loud. i've done it for a few people, not my favorite choice, but it does the job.

 

i was being a little harsh but most i a have seen have come out bad looking, even the high quailty ones, but hey it personal what you wants. If your shit is already screwed then why not i guess.
