dude fuck mountain bikes , i was watching animal planet (only english channel in this fucking country) and they had this thing on about moutain bikers getting fucked up by cougars. fuck that, i like my facial structure how it is. some chick was just cruising down a trail with a lil helmet cam and blam a cougar speared her ass of the bike. but wat was even worse , was they were tracking this particular one cause another mountain biker went missing in its terroritory, i guess cougars feed on the same thing for awhile cause they found the guys corpse in its feeding area. they tracked it and blasted it with and m16 and a shotgun. the whole show was about how mountain lions and cougars that are in urban areas (ie. mountains of L.A. and some city in india) are evolving into eating humans, their cubs are snatching up lil hindu kids and eatting them random and long i know, but i thought of it when i saw the mountain biking thread...

Not quite true...

While it is very unlikely that we would run in to anything it is possible to bump in to several types of poisonous snakes, there are black bear on the trails in the great dismal swamp i suffolk. Also, male deer can be dangerously aggressive sometimes.

I have personally had encounters with the following animals during rides :

Harwood Mills : Multiple encounters with large black rat snakes over 5 feet long. Not poisonous but scary as hell when the root in front of your tire suddenly takes off through the bushes. Charged by male deer, who stopped just short of ramming me and turned around. Frightened by female deer who was hidden inches from the path and jumped when I got near her.

New Quarter : Numerous encounters coming close to deer.

York River : Numerous encounters with deer. Stopped for drink of water and placed my foot on a log next to the trail without dismounting, heard rattling, looked down to see coiled copperhead right next to the log. Took off quickly.
