@#$% YOU GOODWILL ...*56k*
Then have someone tell you you dont have the grounds to sue me..
..When you have worked for 5 years to try and set you self financally independent by the time you hit 20 and in a matter of seconds everything you worked for is shattered right in front you..you'd be pissed to....but untill that happens to you..just sit down and shut up. And i WILL NOT BE REINBURSED for anything b/c im not paying for shit..this wasnt my fault.
/rant
Ok Adam..pm me your extention and you can personally handle this for me. Allstate told me that i have to wait untill Goodwill does something with their insurance, and if i dont hear from them in a day or so then call them back. Im calling bright and early Monday morning and if nothing has been done (as of friday they havent even admitted any info yet to the higher-ups). Im gonna be lighting more than a fire up under their ass. Goodwill asked for a copy of the tape..LP told her no..(due to she can tamper with it). They are gonn ahve to compensate for so much its not even funny..I WILL HAVE HIS JOB AND HIS LICENSE BY THE TIME THIS IS ALL DONE. If this whole fiasco is not over by Thursday then i feel sorry for goodwill.
I just got off the phone with the Roanoke co. officer who came out the other night to let him know there is new evidence. I also gave him the number to Goodwill since they wont give us a name of the driver, he is gonna get it for me so i hope that a POlice officer calling for a name will spark something..damn i hate waiting
What do you mean??? I thought you were considering going to law school, but you don't understand how anyone has any grounds to sue?
You do understand that a settlement is basically an attempt to pull the blanket over the fire to put it out, right? It's basically an attempt to stay out of court. It would cost Goodwill more to defend theirselves in a courtroom than it would to settle out and make the situation right to where Marie is satisfied. The driver was 100% at fault, and it seems as if he can't deny anything at this point since he got out and inspected the damage and then took off again. There's obviously no question as to whether or not Goodwill is liable, since the vehicle was clearly marked and they've already admitted that they had a driver in the area and know exactly who the guy is.
This is CLEARLY a case that could end up in court if Goodwill doesn't play their cards right. No one is asking for anything unreasonable! She just wants the situation to be corrected. She had a perfectly good Jeep before this asshole ran over it, and I'm sure that's all she expects.

Goodwill is liable, and will pay the damages. They aren't stupid. If they decide not to pay, THEN you have a case. Until then, I don't see what you can do another than keep calling and pressuring them.
Listen here little boy, ok.. now let me drive up to your house, make sure someone is taping all this..i hit your PARKED car..get out of mine, check my car (that right their tells you i know i did it) then drive off.

Until you hit 20 and everything you worked for is shattered? I shattered a $25,000 car when I was 18. I know loss... I was trying to help you... And I am right. If I hit someones car and decide not to pay and you have proof, they can sue me. If I pay them, what are they going to sue me for?
"And i WILL NOT BE REINBURSED for anything b/c im not paying for shit..this wasnt my fault."
What? Haha... Nevermind. You obviously don't need my help.
I'm not saying they are asking for something unreasonable. But sueing someone requires a reason. What could they sue them for? I'm in the law books right now.

That's the point! They pay, or they end up in court... and like I said, it cost a lot more money in most cases for a company of any sort of size to defend themselves (I imagine they have corporate attorneys) than it would be to just give her the money for her Jeep when they are clearly liable for the damage.
I was the Corporate Liability Coordinator at Advance for a while, and worked on all of the auto, property, and asbestos claims... Also have 2 years of insurance background with Allstate.
You can sue someone for anything. Anything! The woman I saw on tv yesterday is sueing McDonalds for $200,000,000 because someone called in and had another employee sexually assault her or something. The caller wasn't a McDonalds employee, and it's really not the companies fault that it happened.. but guess what--she'll probably win a large portion of money and never work again. That's how America works. That has nothing to do with this, but I was just reminded of that. They can certainly sue Goodwill if they wish to, regardless of whether or not they pay. If Goodwill pays, and they still sue them, there should be a hell of a reason... like if Goodwill refuses to pay a reasonable amount (if they offered her $200 or something), or of course if they deny the claim and turn their cheek.

So we were saying the same thing... McDonald's and other huge corporations are sued daily. Yes you can sue someone for almost anything with a reason or story. Now whether or not it ever gets anywhere is different. Most don't. I don't exactly understand this McDonald's story... But she very well might. This is not that kind of case though. Like I said, if they pay, what can you do? I think we are thinking the same thing, just saying it differently.
