Lest we forget that the OHV motor is smaller, lighter, has fewer moving parts, and produces a broader powerband. And OHC have been around since the early 20th century.

 

Brian, I wouldn't get that bent out of shape over it. I think he was giving credit where credit is due.

It's the "gee that thing did good and it still has pushrods" comment... people were marketed OHC as "new" and "better" technology so the assumption exists that OHV is old and archaic when from an engineering and packaging POV it has many advantages.

Brian...calm down, for real. I didn't take his comment that way at all. Considering the guy who posted it runs a pushrod motor, I seriously doubt that he was trying to malign it in any way.

 

I know... I really should set it on fire. Then go back to my '97 Cobra... it had DOHC... specific output baby

 

I'm not worked up... just trying to educate and inform. Many people assume OHC is "new" "better" and OHV is "old" etc simply due to the fact that auto makers started using OHC for marketing etc.
