Default bridge myth about cops

ive always heard that on a bridge, for instance the monitor merrimac, with that slim of a shoulder than cops donnot sit on the sides of them, or more so they cant. Last nighton my to newport news there was a cop sitting on the side ?? And on my way back i saw him on the same side that i had came to newport news on with a car pulled over.

Am i the only one who think that is dangerous ? and is that legal for a cop to do

Police officers have to obey laws also. The only time they can break them is in emergencies.

I guess they can even if it's dangerous. It's basically the same as sitting in the emergency lane on the side of the highway.

Umm.... just for reference: Due to 9/11, there is a cop at all times on all of the bridges/tunnels in the area.

One day, off duty yet in uniform, my girlfriends father was speeding and got a ticket. And once his partner got a drunk in public ticket in the same area he patrolled earlier that day. I hear a bunch of funny stuff around those guys.

He is not suppose to sit on the shoulder because like it was said it does create more of a hazzard but who is going to say anything. I got pulled over by a trooper that was unmarked and had his hazards on. He gave me a ticket on 64 for going 10 over.

He said they're there, not that they were patrolling.
