i used to always get hassled when i had the Super Dragger exhaust on my car(yes,i was a ricer ).it wasn't loud at all,but it was very flashy, and at that time, cops weren't used to seeing Hondas with honkin exhausts.i got around 15 tickets with that setup.i switched over to a full 3"(3" downpipe,no cat,no resonator,to a 10" long bullet muffler.talk about loud!!)exhaust when i went turbo.with the muffler painted black,no tip,but outrageously loud,i never once got hassled.the exhaust i've ran on my daily driver for about five years is pretty loud, but again it's no tip and a black muffler, and i don't get any problems.
speaking of WRXs,Scott in the past few weeks has gotten pulled a few times for the SSAC exhaust on his car.his setup is a catless up-pipe and downpipe,to the straight thru 3",with a huge,polished,N1 style mounted can.it IS the loudest exhaust i've ever heard on just about any import.i welded up a new rear section for him using a Greddy 3" SP muffler, and it's mounted like stock so it comes straight out as opposed to the cocked sideways old setup.it's almost as loud as the old muffler, but no hassles-i think it's because it looks stock.
Chris

I have had no issues with my Exhaust but it looks almost stock. Damn Chris I remember back in what '99 when you would get hit on 220 almost everynight right before you got to walmart coming in to Roanoke. But you have a point I got crap for the Greddy on my Teg that thing had no sound. Damn I miss my DA

I agree that police generally look at the exhaust before the sound of it although that could be dependant on the situation. When I had my cut-out and stock cat-back I could roll around all the time with the blaaaaaaaa cutout open and never have any problems. I'd like to just replace my end muffler with a stock looking twin tip muffler w/ 3" inlet, but I haven't found one yet.

I have never come across any mufflers like that. Closest thing to it would be to take like a magnaflow 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlet muffler, paint it black and add your tips. But then again I believe the dual outlets on the magnaflow may be spread apart too far to fit in the cutout of the rear bumper cover.

Yeah that end muffler doesn't look stock at all. I never liked how wide the outlets were, but then again it wasn't made to stick out the back of a import either (camaro). Magnaflow's street series mufflers are perfect but all their inlets are 2.25, sucks...

Well, they actually just released one with 2.5" inlet and dual 2.25" outlets. I have no information on it other than that so I am not sure what the tips look like on it. It was just released in the past couple of weeks.

I'm sure if there is enough interest in a 3" version then I could relay the information to Darron and they could possibly do something. They would probably need to see 100+ people that would be interested in it before they even consider it though. Maybe if someone wanted to start a petition online and submit it to Magnaflow then they would get their ass in gear.

If they could make a stock looking twin tipped muffler like the stock 2g one with a 3" inlet that would be awesome. I've even thought about routing my 3" piping through the stock endmuffler and turndown out the bottom of it.

That is an interesting concept. Can't say I have ever heard of someone doing it like that.
