are you talking about the event where the Miata thought it was a drift course and the second guy panic'd swerving and spinning out? causing 2 cars to get totaled?

This is why this year you will be required to show insurace and we will only be doing one run with the entire group to get video of everyone....then it is a free for all where you go by yourself or with a small group....We learned alot from last year and hope to have a better and more eventful time

We have a full time scheduled and we will be having alot of fun, but you have to remember, mistakes are made, and consequences are to be payed out....

Im sure we can get a group together or responsible people who would want to have a great time up there, and im pretty sure if you registered on rt.com and got to know some of us you probably would be more than welcome....like I said, I cant tell you not to go, but if you show up unannounced I cant promise youd be welcomed

If you want to mapquest the trip, use Fontana Village, NC as your ending point

here is the map from Norfolk to US129

Total Est. Time: 8 hours, 47 minutes Total Est. Distance: 498.95 miles

Im pretty sure your not a ricer if your agreeable to go under stipulations and require a set of extra rules of the road to follow...its those who are thinknig i can go and do whatever i want on the road and dont have to worry about some asshole comming the other way on a blind 170 degree corner

imagine being chased by a bunch of bikers.....not the plesant kind you want to deal with, is what could happen if you cut the wrong guy off or cross the line in a corner causing a guy to slide out avoiding you.....its not a pretty picture since the ratio of bike to car is 3:1

I kind of wish everyone would just forget about the Dragon and leave it alone.

As do I.

What happened last year was typical of usual outings on that road. Its a lot of inexperienced drivers driving WAY outside of their capabilities. I'll pass

I dont understand why you want people to forget about the Dragon.....

Im going just for the sheer reason of getting video of me driving it again....my camera died just as I was leaving the campground and I left my charger unit at home....just an FYI, its 3 hours to the nearest Bestbuy for Sony crap

I had fun out there, and I expect to again....Im not just out there to drive US129....Im out there to meet up with all the friends I have made on the Internet and the group that I have had the honor of meeting in real life. Most of which are close personal friends of me, so that is moreso why I plan on going.....Yeah we could meet up anywhere, but why not have some fun on a road that allows it..??

Have fun with your friends in a parking lot. Don't invite them to a challenging road where you know they will screw up and piss people off. How much longer do you think the local authorities will allow spirited driving on the Dragon with stuff like this going on?

I got you on that....I dont have a good answer for any of it.....other than you just threw everything I said in my face ....Its true, people are stupid....

But I will make the remark that I will only be driving with people I know and trust
The people I know and trust keep at least a 4 car lenght distance at all time, and only charge hard in the corners when you can see the out....granted thats only like 3 corners of the entire course that you can do that on

You guys have your opinions about it and I respect that, but I still plan on going. I am ready to pay the consequences if I make a mistake out there. Granted I hope if someone else causes me to crash or hits me (god hope not) they accept the responsibility to pay for the damages they cause/d

There is alot of danger out there I will not argue or deny that....probably 90% of the route is Rock on one side and straight drop off on the other. There is one parking area at mile mark 11-12 for run off in the middle of the Dragon, but other than that if you mess up or over/underjudge a corner you are screwed.....

just drive below your limit and you will still have fun....just keep in ind its not a race, people die, and people will continue to do so....The Dragon bites back, and bites back hard if you dont play safe out there
