211 is a cool road, is it true that they put speed bumps in between turns though?

if you liked 211 theres a route through the mountains further south you have to ride sometime, its like 211 but about 20 times longer, and alot more different type of turns... we need to do a dragva mountain trip

those little rumble strips have been there forever, i think...you can barely notice them now. i'm not sure which road you mean though. i was looking at a map today and skyline goes north and south (apparently) forever. i've gone north before but it's so slow moving. there was basically nobody out there this weekend. it was sweet. somebody was telling me about a road that mirrors skyline on the other side of the mountain called george washington memorial or something...which one are you talkin' about? dragva mountain trip would be hot!

i've only done 211 once but it was probably 3 years ago and there were no rumble strips then, i first heard about them maybe last year, but 211 also is known for having alot of traffic and police enforcement

i know the other route visually and ran it 4 times last year, but as far as i remember its 711(decent road, some sweepers) to Jude's Ferry(really cool road, clean predictable 25mph curves that you can see all the way through) then you jump on 60 and cruise for about 45 minutes, then you get on 56 west and it starts getting twisty, jump on 29 for a short bit, more curves, then back on 56 through the mountains, this is where its like 211 but better and much longer, then it puts you where you can either take 64 home, or ride the blue ridge parkway for another half hour and then spits you off to 64 to take home, we usually stop in charlottesville for dinner... lots of curves, few cars, never seen a cop

but i'm a little weary about anymore large group rides, we've done that route with anywhere from 3-50 bikes and out of the 4 trips last year i'd say 9 or so people went down, none serious but as technical as some of it is and you have no run off for must its hard to do right with a big group, unless you really structure it well and everyone is honest to themselves about what group they should be riding with

i saw a couple state cops on the straight but that was it. i was more interested in the twisties anyways so i could get a little better there. i love how you can see through all those turns. that ride your talking about sounds sweet...gas may become an issue but still sounds fun. i'll have to get some maps. i know what you mean about large group rides though...just last week my boy laid down (not very experienced but still). never the less...i'm not that quick to begin with. i wanted to hit that mountain so i could become a little quicker and it was so perfect with no cars (guess it's still early in the season). saw a few other guys out there though...full gear for obvious reasons. can't wait to go back now. everything around here is so boring after that

gas isn't a problem, round trip its about 300 miles, and there are plenty of stations between all points... but yea once you get riding in the mountains and the track regular around town street riding gets pretty dull
