Those engines require frequent rebuilds, INSANE amounts of fuel, and are very rough. I think this is just one of those concepts you see every now and then where the designers were like "hmmm I wonder what would happen if we took...." and went to town. It's cool, but every company has their own little 600hp ALMS engine and a factory car they COULD put it in.

EDIT: I just read that BMW will be using the V8 block from the new M5 for their team...500cid...500hp

It's not an F1 engine. It's an ALMS engine.
It'll never be an F1 engine.
And it'll never be a production engine. It'll NEVER go 100,000 miles.
It's just a neat concept. Nothing more.
But it is pretty badass
Debuting in the 2002 ALMS (American Le Mans Series), this 4 liter V8 engine has seen action every year since then. In 2004, it was used in the JGTC Series by the VEMAC RD408R GT500 class racing machine.
And it'll never be a production engine. It'll NEVER go 100,000 miles.
