Re: (title change) Bought an '00 Tacoma 4x4
god thats a great truck, def not feeling the lline-x either
go with a cornfed lift they are reasonable priced and are great quality go with the 2.5 or so ones, dont body lift it looks odd and suspension lifts are very in-expensive for tacos, get some 285/75/16's on the stockers and call it a day man

I think their suspension stuff is beyond where I'm at for now. I'm definitely going to look at their rock guards though.
You have any info on lift kits that are out there? I'd like to purchase a quality lift kit, and then just go from their piece by piece. Something in the 3-4" range is all I want.

Just an FYI, since rock crawling is the current off road "fad" all your high quality kits are going to be geared towards it. It is very easy to go overboard on the modifications. You really need to be honest with yourself on what the truck is going to used for. I was all about a SAS on my '90 Toyota but I had buddies convince my to do a more mild IFS build and see if it suits my needs. So far it has done well and has not broken. If breakage of the front end ever becomes a problem, then I will think about progressing and doing a SAS swap.

I have almost zero interest in rock crawling. I'm more interested in something that works at high speed. I like the baja style stuff. I'm not looking at spending huge money on a competition level system, but being used to car stuff, I'm not above spending a little bit of money to do it right. I think I should be able to get about 3" of additional frame clearance with a suspension that's actually designed to work well at speed. That way I'm not sacrificing too much on road driveability, but still gaining some off road prowess.
Something like the Camburg or Donahoe stuff I think. I'm still just getting started researching though.

Well, you are delving into an area that I have not gone into before. I have heard of Donahoe and from what I have seen they make nice stuff but that is where my experience ends. Camburg I have never heard of. Interesting that both these guys don't even cater to the Hilux crowd at all. If you are willing to spend the cash on those two companies systems, by all means go for it. I checked out their websites and it looks like they have quality products. You will definitly be one of few with either system on your truck around here. Most off road truck guys are into trail running and/or rock crawling. Low speed high articulation stuff since that is the easiest to find within a reasonable distance to here.

Ok, here's a question. I need to replace my factory intake. Not because I'm looking for hp gains or "induction noise", but because my stock one is cracked. I'm hesitant to buy a K&N or AEM style tube because of possible water/dirt issues with offroading. Do you know of one off hand that is a high quality intake, but is a bit more sealed up than the simple tube style ones?
I'm looking on yotatech and stuff too, just thought you might have one in particular that you already know of.

see if volant makes one, they have one with a box for most trucks and still get some power from it, and for rock guards go to trail gear.com they got them for about 150 shipped
