Default Ranger engine - Fits in what?

Hey guys -- I don't know anything about trucks, so I'd appreciate any help you can give me. My brother crashed his 2000 Ford Ranger i4 2.5L pretty badly. There's no damage to anything in the drivetrain except the radiator, so one of the options we're considering is buyin' a frame with a blown out engine and dropping his engine in there. Obviously, I'll try to find a ranger frame, but it would be easier if I had more options. Any of you know what else the engine will fit in (easily)? Thanks.

Are you wanting to make a daily or what? How "easily" does it need to go in?

If you mean a daily driver, then yeah. If you mean swap it in a day, then no.

As far as easily, i Just meant I don't want to have 2mm of clearance on either side of the engine bay or have to make body modifications to get it to fit.

basically, can a swap be done in any small truck like a dakota or a tacoma, or is it only gonna work in a ranger.

I would say that you need to put it in another ranger that had the same engine in it. Engine management is gonna kick your ass if you try and put it in something else late model. Let's face it. It's just a 4 cyl truck motor. it's not really worth the time and effort to try and make it anything else

i hope you maen its not worth the time and effort to try and put it in anything else, cause we're not trying to soup the thing up. we're just trying to find a way to fix the thing for a reasonable amount of money. anyways, i guess we'll just look for a ranger of the same year, thanks for the advice.
