Paragon March 25

Me and some of my friends went up to Paragon in Hazleton, Pennsyvania this weekend. It was just a shakedown run for my truck. We ran mostly high blues and blacks. We ran a new unrated trail, that will probably be a red, at the end of the day. I didn't take that many pics since I was driving most of the time, so here are a few that I managed to get. Not many action shots since we were moving pretty fast around the park.
First truck in the group was Brad's Ranger truggy on 36 Iroks. I followed him around the whole day.

Right behind me was Terry's 85 with 5.29's and a spooled rear.

Terry's truck at the top of one of the trails we climbed.

I managed to get a lot of shots of the 85 since he was right behind me. Behind him was Eric's 94 Toy truggy.

Another shot of the 94 on 37 Pitbulls and 4.7 in the case with Randy's jeep behind him.

Top of a red. Right after I busted a brake line. Vice-gripped it and limped back to staging.

Yeah. I wish I hit up Crozet last time you went up there with my brother. The auto did real good up there. Just kept in drive most of the time. Threw it in 2nd and low once in a while, descending and stuff, and it pretty much crawled over everything. The main thing I would change on my truck though is the wheelbase. I ended up doing like 100-point turns when things got tight. I was thinking about bobbing the hell out of the bed. The only thing keeping me from doing that right now is that the Chevy's are so long, so I might end up linking the rear or something. So I definitely need to do something about my turning radius. I might throw a selectable up front also.

PAP's in Hazleton, PA. It's about 7-8 hours from VB. Definitely worth the drive though.

turns out that my buddy in the 94 broke both of his 30 splines and the gear set. if you know what 30 splines are, you know that shit's insane. you can probably count on one hand the number of times someone's broken a 30 spline.

Ive broken my gears sets and lockers too. That shit sux. Was he runnin the longfields 30spline with the chromoly shafts? If he broke that thats insane. Them are soppose to be as strong as D60 axles. Was he backing up and turning when he broke them? Cause thats when the birfields are at there weekest. My dad just got his 30spline and chromo shafts from long for his cruiser.

Here's what he said on another board:

I do  From talking with Bobby today no one has managed to break 2 at the same time. He thinks the LF broke sent a serious shock through the axle into the other one since the locker never broke. Then when we heard that really loud crack the ring gear let loose cause the birfs was bound up.

He taking care of my junk no probs. I'm getting another gear set, my hubs cyroed and new birfs 8) . Just gota pay for gears and 10 bucks for cyro treating my hubs. He did say I will be getting NEW 30splines. As in thicker in the spot mine broke because they have had 4 failures so far besides mine, all on KMCdaniels rig(test rig). All others that had problems was balls broke or material problems in the beginning.

I talked to Boby for at least a half hour about what I do with my rig and what kinda conditions. Shipping my old longs back tomorrow for him to go over and see if I broke a good set or a set that had a defect.

Re: Paragon March 25

Thats fawkin crazy. Ive only broke 2 birfields. One was a longfield, one of his original ones, and then the spare that i replaced it with all in the same day. But untill i start breaking more of the standerd 27spline longfields i dont see the need for the 30spline yet. I even have a higher crawling ratio then he does and havnt broke one in a while. There had to of been a defect in the ones he got. Thats nutz though

Re: Paragon March 25

Yeah a lot of the trails are going to be a little tight, but I saw a bunch of fullsizes out there running some of the other trails.

I just picked up the YJ spring kit for my Sammi, when you guys plan on going again. If i have it "back" together, i'd like to tag along.

I doubt she'd do much in her current state....
