allll right, i just pulled into my driveway a 98 Cherokee sport. 240,xxx mi, 4x4 (are they all?) Auto, COLD A/C, non-abs, radiator replaced last month. 4bridgestones at @75%tread

drives straight. has squeaks here and there. The only things i've noticed not working so far is the drivers side fender turnsignal (drivers headlight turn sig works), lock function of the power doors (unlock works) and the rear hatch struts wont hold up the door.

1350 Omani Rial isnt a bargain, but thats the market here. i've scouted out over 20 of them and they have ranged from 850-2200 Rial

i cleaned it out before calling it a night, wash/detail/pix this weekend.

what forum(s) should i be jumping on? any free/cheap mods to knock out? It seems completely stock.

decided getting out and getting dirtier was going to be more fun than cleaning and shooting pix in the driveway :cool:

Mine is the green one on the right... 8" lift on 35's.. my buddys purple one has a 6" lift on 33's were both on cherokeeforum

ehhhh.. im in the middle east. But thanks for the offer.

i only have plans on keeping it for about a year before sellling it off as i transfer. Im thinking i may end up with another though if this one treats me good. No lifting this one, i just want to make it reliable.

I just bought a 90 XJ 2 door 5speed to DD around these hills up here, Dumped + Ohio is no bueno. Longterm I plan on lifting the XJ but i have no experience in the art of lifting, just slamming :dunno:. So what should i look into, i'm thinking like 6in or so. Brands? Tires? Helpful tidbits?

With about 5" of lift you can clear 33's with minimal issues. Granted you will have lower control arm rubbing when turning sharper turns. But adjusting the steering stop out will eliminate this. The higher you lift your rig the more extreme the angles get on the lower control arms so if you get aove a 4" lift look for adjustable lower control arms as part of the package.

With lift comes responsibility - don't think that the lift kit will have ALL of the peices needed for getting your rig that high. Higher lifts also increase your driveline angles on the rear driveshaft. Stock XJ transfer cases have what is call a slip yoke on the drive shaft. This allows the yoke to move in and out of the transfer case when lifting...TOO hig and put stress on that driveshat and output cone on the Xfer case causing vibrations when driving certain speeds. There is a kit ~$150+ calleda Slip Yoke Eliminator whiche replaces the output shaft cone on the transfers case and providing a fixed yoke - this REQUIRES you order a new rear CV driveshaft - the front driveshaft from some 2 Door XJ's with auto trannys have worked in the past as the new rear driveshaft if you can find one on eBay or the junkyard.

Some of the vendors like Rustys Offroad have the kits adn shafts already available depending on the lift you go with...I can go into further details but this thread isn't for that I was just trying to answer your original question :D

Rusty's offroad has the worst customer support EVER. Products are not that great anyways.

lol Rusty will always tell you that you installed it wrong...granted his lift's are pretty much junk but he has some "decent" items such as HD tie rods, tracbar. Other than those I wouldn't spend too much money on Rustys

Thanks for your input. I'm just looking for some basics now so i can do some research and start compiling a parts list so that next spring i can have everything rounded up and put it all together.
