just asked my pops (he's a lawyer)...says VA doesn't have a law about tailgates as far as he knows, but he's not a traffic attorney. I see plenty of net tailgates around though...and plenty without tailgates also as Zack said. he drives without a tailgate every once in awhile haha

thanx thought it was now does your tag have to be lighted since i dont have a tailgate (custom bumber) or do i need to rig something. thanx again for all help. dont need a ticket

You have to have a tag on the rear of the truck...but no...no body panel are required on any vehicle. You can run around with no doors, fenders, hood, truck, ect. if you want.

there is a law bout tailgates .. a dumb one .. i had a cop tell me that drivin with a tailgate down is illegal, take it off and it was legal. then he went on to tell me it was adumbass law and u wouldnt get a ticket unless the cop was bein a dick or u were bein a dick
