F150 Decision

Well taxes are coming in so I am going to treat myself to one of 2 things.

Its kinda hard for me to decide.

I have a 2010 Screw F150 that I bought brand new in Sept. So here are the 2 things I want to get... both for roughly 450

Linex bed liner or a custom tune.

What engine?
And what/who's custom tune are you getting for $450?

Sorry about that. Its the 5.4 l 3v ... but what I mean by custom tuned its going to be a can tuned by VMP.... just a flasher.

Re: F150 Decision

You really don't want to custom tune the 5.4 too extremely (improper english), ESPECIALLY with the stock heads and valve train.

PLEASE DON'T EVER buy an 'out of the box' or 'ready to run' tune if that's what you're referring to. Real Dyno tunes are way more effective and MUCH safer for your vehicle especially when done by someone who knows what they're doing AND are actually working in the presence of YOUR vehicle. Factors such as your motor's mileage, health, desired oil weight, octane rating, gas quality of your area, and even elevation of where you live are all taken into consideration, especially on higher displacement motors. A company simply cannot produce an effective tune that works in all situations, safely. Unless they 'watered' it down, for lack of better terms, to the point where some wouldn't even notice the tune and some would just be way over priced for the actual net gains.

(diesels are a complete different story)

So unless you are going to use an SCT Xcal 3 tuner and get it properly tuned on the Dyno by a professional, I highly recommend the bed liner.. it increases the resale value. I used the SCT X3 and datalogged with a tuner for a month and picked up 76hp and 90ft/lbs on a naturally aspirated V6 (with some goodies of course).

Also, I LOVE the color combo you chose!

Put that money towards debt, then have more money to play with later down the road.

Thanks for all the advice but I had a bill come in today that made me realize that I should really pay it off and save on my deployment for something I really want
