Post 1998 the Dana 35 was replaced with the Corp 8.25 axle so thats a moot point.

As for a 2000 Cherokee they are an awesome rig...you should look for one that has the factory tow package as it should have a tranny cooler and limited slip rear. The 4.0 is pretty much bulletproof and cooling is a open loop system so overheating shouldn't be an issue even in extreme heat. They are set to run at ~190-210 degrees which is normal.

The AC system is rechargeable and VERY easy to service with the coolant recharges from any auto parts store - the low pressure recharge port is located right near the firewall.

If you can find a nice 60th anniversary one GET IT those are PIMP

mine def does NOT have a LSD as it one wheel peels when i get on it coming out of corners. lame.

it does have a tranny cooler though. All my vehicles are manual so ive never dealt with an auto tranny cooler before. To my suprise when i found it it ran thru the normal engine rad. I had a slow leak from the bottom line when i bought it. The previous owner just had a new rad put in. so he told me the lines may just need tightening. so i wrenched on it and the ^%#!%#! elbow cracked.

i took it to a local shop and the rigged up a new elbow to a rubber hose and hacked off a hard line that snakes around the front of the engine. Hope the clamp holds!

oh, but i was stuck in the vehicle inspection line out in the middle of the day with the sun blasting. over an hour of idleing with the AC kicking, and my temp never passed the halfway- 210 mark. it may help that i have 2 aftermarket pusher fans on the front of the rad though.
