Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA Admission: Free, Parking $15 Please note: The parking lot will open at 8:00 am, as will McDonald's. The building will be open its regular hours of 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. The Engen Observation Tower will be closed to the public. For more information see Directions, Parking and Attendee Tips. Discovery will depart NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, a modified Boeing 747, in the early morning of Tuesday, April 17. It is expected to arrive in the Washington, D.C. area around midmorning and will land at Washington Dulles International Airport. When Discovery enters the D.C. area, it will fly over parts of the metropolitan area. The exact path will not be publicized in advance. Depending on weather and other circumstances, it may be possible for media organizations to identify viewing locations that day. As Discovery approaches, the Museum will update its web site constantly and make the information available to radio stations. __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________________________ Wasn't sure if any NOVA folks would be going to watch this, or wanted to check it out, but just passing along the info. We will be out there(The Udvar-Hazy Center) in the AM to see what we can see. It's a shame that the observation tower will be closed, but oh well. Anyone interested in checking it out, post it in here! |

Just bumping this to remind people. Should fly over the area in about 30 min or so. I should have a pretty good view from my 13th floor office window here in Rosslyn.

Just flew over old town area. Looking out my window, looks like it's flying south, down past Bailey's Crossroads area.
