Want to buy beginners bike

Well, as my title states, Im looking for a bike that is older, and something without a massive amount of power. Im new to the motorcycle thing so even help is accepted in this thread. I dont really want to go over $1500, as I plan on fucking this bike up, more than likely. I'd also like it to not need a whole lot to get started riding.
Post up your bikes, craigslist ads, anything. Just help me find something.

I know someone selling a 2007 GS500F w/ 49 (forty-nine) miles on it. Would need the carbs gone through (sitting for a while, durr) and the tank/seat put back on. Never dropped, owner just decided they didn't like riding. I think he wants around $2k for it.
