Hey everyone. I bought this from a forum member on Nasioc on 6-29 of this year. I've been using it as my daily driver and was planning on keeping it but Ive since started working farther from home and would rather buy something that gets better mpg and a mustang project. I do not have to sell and I'm not against keeping it if no one is interested.
When I bought it the previous owner said that the car kept throwing a check engine light for a misfire on cylinder #4. Im a Subaru technician and knowing that its common for these to have valve problems I pulled the motor and installed 8 brand new Oem exhaust valves, cleaned up the intake valves, installed all new valve seal, and converted the exhaust buckets from shims to the bucket style. The car still throws an engine light once and awhile for random misfires but is not actually missing. From what Ive read its caused by the light weight flywheel and crank pulley.
Exterior is probably 7.5-10. Has dents on hood, bottom of both doors has rock chips from previous owner running the toyo tires at track. I repainted the hood scoop with grimspeed wrb paint but its not perfect.
Interior is extremely clean for miles. Does not have floor mats as of right now. quarter sized hole on drivers floor in front of seat. Missing liners in trunk.
Im probably going to be installing coilovers depending on how long the car remains in my posession.
I also have a back up 5 speed trans out of an 08 Wrx than may go with the car. I also have the Konig wheel and Toyo tires for sale separate.
I may be forgetting some things but here is a parts list
Engine:
New Oem block with less than 5,000 miles
Freshly Rebuilt Heads
VF34 turbo
EcuTEK tune with two maps
Perrin high pressure fuel rails and stainless steel lines
STi pink injectors
Walbro 255
MRT turbo back exhaust
MRT header
Turbo XS fmic
Turbo XS recirc valve
Perrin inlet hose
Perrin Radiator Hoses
Light Weight Crank and Alternator Pully
Killer B oil pickup and windage tray
STi oil pan and dipstick
STi oil pump
Driveline:
Cobb short shift and bushings
Exedy lightweight flywheel and OEM clutch with less than 5000 miles on them. NEVER launched and has had a stock clutch all it's life. Original clutch and flywheel were not worn out but replaced them anyway when the motor was out of the car.
Suspension:
Whiteline front and rear swaybars with solid endlinks
Whiteline anti lift/dive kit
Wheels:
Kinesis K58 18x7.5 245/40/18 Dunlop
Konig Verdict 17x7wheels with 235/40/17 Toyo R888 tires
205/55/16 Nokian Hakkapeliitta winter tires (no wheels)
Brakes:
New Hawk HP plus pads and EBC rotors installed at 129000 miles all 4 corners
(They are a little noisey)
Interior:
08-13 Spt Boost Gauge
JDM Hazard switch
Exterior:
Clear marker lights on fenders
JDM V7 Taillights
EZ Lip flexible lip
FROM PREVIOUS OWNERS FOR SALE THREAD:
Car has never been wrecked, clean title. VF39 installed around 55000 miles. Rod bearing went bad around 129000 mi. Replaced short block with brand new Subaru block and had my tech replace oil cooler, oil pump, oil pickup (Killer B) and anything else that bearing material could've gotten stuck in. Car drives well but suffers from low compression in cyl 4. Since the block is new it's most likely the heads needing rebuilt which I learned is common after the motor was already put back together. I just ordered a new car so it is time to sell.
Pics:Car is dirty. I will clean it and update pics when I get a chance.

Re: (WV) 2002 WRB WRX VF34,TurboXS,Perrin
.. have you done a compression/leakdown test?
ringlands are known to go out quite often on these motors

No all exhaust valves where tight before I rebuilt heads. The car throws the light but isnt actually missing. Runs very strong. The light weight flywheel and crank pulley throw of the sensor reading and the ecm interpenetrates it as a misfire. My Subaru instructors built sti does the same.

Re: (WV) 2002 WRB WRX VF34,TurboXS,Perrin
I did not do a compression test or leak down. It has a BRAND NEW OEM SHORT BLOCK install by a Suabru Dealership 5000 miles ago as stated in post. Ive been a Subaru tech for almost 3 year and I know the problems they have. The whole longblock has less than 5000 miles on it.

Re: (WV) 2002 WRB WRX VF34,TurboXS,Perrin
idc how much oil you have to change to claim to be a tech... and its misfiring in cylinder 4... the most common cylinder to fail due to ring land issues.. new block or not... those ring lands fail right out the factory. why are you so hesitant about the compression test/leakdown..
From fastwrx.com
"Note: The light weight of these flywheels may result in additional drivetrain noise. Also, because the engine revs up and down so much faster, the 2.0-liter ECU may get upset and throw a single cylinder misfire CEL code. (These codes can be disabled using a Cobb AccessPort or other engine management tools.) We will not accept any returns because of these conditions."
Continue to be a forum faggot a bump my thread. That it is the only thing your doing that is any help to anyone.
