1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST
Name: Josh
Location: Martinsburg, WV
Means of contact: 304-703-9041
Price: $1500 OBO
Description:
1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST.
Turbocharged 2.0L DOHC.
Automatic trans
Front wheel drive
208,xxx miles
Motor runs shitty. Idles rough and bogs out at times during acceleration. Turbo is fine just motor is rough. Needs air filter housing (can get an adapter for $10 if neccesary). Blows the oil dipstick out when driving.
New:
Alternator- $130
PCV Valve- $3
Plugs and wires- $50
MAP Sensor- $112
New vaccum lines- $20
Battery- $60
Coil Pack- $75
It threw a code for a TPS ($110). That's the only code I got with the scanner but I know it's more than that. One of the lifters is knocking, which isn't a huge deal. I bet it could use a MAF sensor also ($210).
I'm open to offers. Worst I can say is no. I'd more like to sell it but I'd consider trade depending on what it is. I know what the car is worth and I know it'd be an easy fix for someone who knows what they're doing with these cars. This is my first Import and i'm not impressed so far. Shoot me an offer for cash or trade and we'll go from there. Thanks.

Is the blow off valve recirculated back into the intake pipe?
Also you are blowing the dipstick because your crank case pressure is too high.

No it is not recirculated. I didn't have the adapter when I bought it. And I have no idea about the crankcase pressure.

pinch the dipstick housing with needlenose, and also wrap electrical tape around the top of the dipstick, wont ever come out again. and it runs like that because you don't have that recirculation pipe. Thats how MAF sensors work. pretty much what citymunky said ^

Re: 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST
Well I figured out why it blows oil out of the dipstick. There is no seal at all. The o-ring seal is shot. So it just sits in there. I got the adapter for the air filter housing to put a filter on too.
