1988 Toyota MR2
Name: Elric
Location: Chesapeake
Means of contact: Post, PM
Price: SOLD
Description: I picked this up at the beginning of summer as a daily driver. I slowly started adding a few things that it needed while upgrading it in the process. The car currently has 102,xxx miles and will continue to rise as I do still drive it. Gets between 28mpg - 32mpg on regular gas. Only selling because I recently picked up an SW20 and since I've already built an AW11 I figure someone else should get this great example of one. Title is clear and in hand.
The car has manual windows. A/C (still on the factory charge of R-12) and Heat work wonderfully. The climate controls all function normally too. Defrost works awesome. The rear view mirrors are manual. No Cruise (didn't come equipped). The car is incredibly sound and is such a pleasure to drive. I was seriously contemplating an engine swap (see parts below) but I found that it'd be such a waste to remove the stock engine because of how well it runs. No smoke, no leaks, nothing, it just runs really well. It's not fast by any means but it "feels" fast. Probably the closely spaced gears but it's no slouch.
The few nuances; frunk release lever is broke (cable still works); trunk release cable has a broken clip (can still open with key no problem); interior light doesn't work (very common problem with AW11s). I will be fixing most of these problems before the car is sold. *EDIT* E-Brake works normally now.
The original plan was to put an AE92/AE101 4AGZE engine in it with a C60 (Celica GT-S) 6spd LSD transmission. That setup would be one of the best bolt in solutions for the AW11 which is why I began picking up parts needed for the transplant while I waited for a good engine to come up.
Maintenance:
Toyota OEM Spark Plugs, Wires, Distributor Cap, Rotor and Fuel Filter
Toyota OEM Timing Belt and Water Pump done at 79k miles
Toyota OEM Engine Air Filter
Replaced ALL exterior lights
Mobil 1 High Mileage with Mobil 1 Oil Filter
Toyota OEM TPS (Original one had a couple dead spots that would make the engine stumble)
Upgrades:
HKS Sport Cat-Back Exhaust
Magnaflow 2" High Flow Catalytic Converter
Enkei RPO2 16x7 +38
205/40/16 Dunlop Azenis RT615-K (less than 3000 miles)
