Chat

I just noticed on http://sr20-forum.com/showthread.php?t=1183# they have a chat room feature, just wondering if this has been considered. Seems like a good idea to me.

Re: Chat

If it works anything like the chat feature the SCF motorcycle forum had, it's a waste. It was a major drag on the system.

Re: Chat

oh god no.

asides from the obvious strain on the board, we can't trust like... 99.5 percent of this board with a chat room anyways.

also: all the other times everyone has tried to start a chat room on irc or aim or whatever, it lasted for like.. a week before people got bored of it.

besides, that's what the dc/nc threads are for :)

I know nothing about how message boards work, i just see people saying those threads slow the site down or whatever and it looked like it could take the dc/nc threads place. But that makes sense. Thanks.

Re: Chat

i should also mention that we tried doing a "shoutbox" on this site before back in the drag757 days. it failed.

in fact, it failed so bad, that it was one of the reasons why the site became dragVA, and how i ended up on the moderation team.

the dc/nc threads actually aren't too bad nowadays since we started them over what, a month or so ago? either way, we've been keeping an eye on the "heavy traffic" threads, and it's been a lot more manageable.
