Wreck on Va Beach Blvd
So.............going to pick up my buddy to go to pick n pull and I see a wreck. Femal rider and I see some of the 4 people around her helping her take off her helmet while she's writhing on the ground laying down.
After seeing that I stop to make sure that someone there knows what they are doing and ask why her helmet was off. One lady responds that she loosened the strap herself and wanted them to take it off. Then she (the girl who wrecked) tries to get up and is moving all around. I said, "Miss, please stay still, help is on the way." (already saw someone dialing and talking on a cell phone). This lady who was crouching there looks at me and says that she is an off duty cop and has the situation under control. I decided to be a smart ass and ask her why the helmet got taken off. She asked me nicely to leave; so I did.
I hope that if I ever wreck on the street that someone who stops to help has a head on their shoulders to control the scene (and me) from doing something stupid until real help arrives..............
Hope the girl is allright.

I don't know what your credentials are, but you sound like you know what you're doing. I would have told that cop that I was an EMT or what not. That would have put her in her place. lol

Re: Wreck on Va Beach Blvd
Figured I'd post this before some people get the wrong idea:
No emergency personnel were on the scene yet (except the off duty cop) and I can't attest if the helmet was taken off correctly (didn't look like it though/see links) or not; but I also can't attest if the off duty cop has even been through the proper training or not.
The helmet doesn't need to be removed until EMS is onscene and ready to get the victim on a back board (some EMS still leave the helmet on; even though they can't properly secure the head and neck, not sure about Va Beach.....but I'll ask). Plaza responded which I was happy with. They know what they're doing.
