would like your opinion/help
so, my buddy just got his bike up and goin, its an early 80's i think, yamaha XS 650 with an 01 ZX6 front end and a cafe style tail piece.
i don't really want the cafe style tail, and don't even really need the front end. but i DO want that style bike, v-twin, loooooow to the ground, and somethin cheap, and somethin that a lot of people customize so that aftermarket parts and support isn't hard to find. any ideas on what kind of bikes to look for?
and he said he has a grand into the bike, which is why i want to do this so bad. i think his bike looks sick, and for a grand or so i can have two bikes
thanks in advance for your help

Re: would like your opinion/help
just a few i found on google in like 5 minutes
and no i don't want to put big ape hangers on it, probably something like drag bars, or a crotch rocket front end
frame work is a no, so nothing major with that either, just some good ideas for a good starting platform, and some possible routes to go from there...
the last picture, i dno't really like the way that bike looks,. i want a tail on it, just put that up to give an idea of what a decent starting bike may look like, and all those bikes are xs 650's as far as i know, cuz thats what i typed in

Re: would like your opinion/help
so i guess you know bobby too huh? lol. his bike is indeed an XS650. he wants to build something like my old XS from what he told me.
i only had about $800 in that one
there's all sorts of bikes out there that would make great donors for something like that. cb's, xs's, old kz's, etc. it's all in what you can find, and afford.
i happen to have a set of inverted forks and trees that wil go into an XS frame easily, if you're interested. just add a pre-96 gsxr front wheel and brakes.
you can go nuts on them too, i even went so far on mine to switch from a twin-shock setup to a modern mono-shock with an aluminum swingarm and a zx-9 shock. it just takes alot of thought, and playing with different parts to see what it will take to fit.
